Hong Kong Day 2

What a day today was!!! It's 4PM and we are resting from a busy day. We got up early again and took the MKR to Central. Hong Kong is full of these large outside escalators, so we utlized those on our walk to Hollywood Rd, which is the center for Chinese antiques and one of the first districts to be established in Hong Kong. We visited Man Mo Temple. Man Mo Temple translates into "Civil Martial." This temple was dedicated to two gods, King Man and Holy King Kwan. It was established in 1847A.D. Many people were worshipping inside, which consits of buying large incense sticks and burning them for the Gods. People were also giving the Gods food, flowers, etc. It was very interesting.

After Man Mo, we walked to Soho, which is full of many restaurants and known for their nightlife. Jeff and I of couse found an Irish Pub and settled in there for a Blue Cheese Burger and Fish and Chips....of course a few Guiness were also consumed!
After lunch, we proceeded east towards Hong Kong's Zoological and Botanical Gardens. No joke this sits right in the middle of the city. It reminded us of Central Park. The gardens were beautiful and the animals consisted mostly of lemurs, orangatans, and monkeys.

Our last destination for the day was Aberdeen Harbor to see the famous Jumbo Floating Restaurant. THIS WAS AWESOME! You had to take a boat over to the restaurant. It was ornately decorated and was like no place we have ever seen. The restaurant literaly floats in the harbor, but doesn't move. It is huge! It had 3 floors and a neat outdoor patio, that had cabana's and rattan chairs. We imagined that if that was in Chicago, it would be packed on a daily basis! We had a few drinks and then went back to the hotel.

Tonight we went cruising on the Victoria Harbor. We boarded the Star Ferry for a 45 minute champagne cruise. The city skyline is absolutely beautiful! The lights on the building are immaculate and say "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year!"
